Fashions on the field

Frocktober is finally over and what should come round the corner but Melbourne Cup. Obviously we couldn't let that event go by without dressing up. There were some fantastic hats, including an amazing handcrafted one made from tyvek scraps and cardboard offcuts, shaped into a beautiful pony.

I wore Alison's old 20s style cloche hat (if you check out the very first photo of us on this blog you'll see Alison in it) with Mum's raccoon stole. And Adria (who made that gorgeous green and purple necklace she's wearing) wore the boater I picked up at the clothes swap on Sunday. We were instructed by our photographer to look 'vampish' but as you'll see from the photos, we struggled to achieve anything other than 'ridiculous'.

Still, red lipstick, a fur stole and a little sepia tone (and heavy handed cropping to remove the toaster in the corner) work wonders to create some glamour out of even the least glamorous model. Till next time xx
